The President “has not yet been able to demonstrate the stability, nor some of the competence, that he needs to demonstrate in order to be successful,” the powerful Tennessee senator told local media.

White House loyalists still offered support for the new President, with former Trump family party planner Lynne Patton showing that she was still catering to the commander-in-chief.

In a Facebook posting, Patton recounted a conversation with Trump lawyer Michael Cohen, “who, like myself, is also receiving the most vile and bigoted messages on social media for being both a proud Jew & proud Trump supporter. “And yes,” she continued, “It’s possible to be both.” Patton, quoting Cohen, said there was “something I think we can all agree on: ‘At the end of the day, it’s up to us to be better. Let these hate-filled bigots march in the streets of America . . . Don’t allow them to reduce us to the same bat wielding, hatred spewing people.’ ”

White House economic adviser Gary Cohn, rumored to be leaving over Trump’s Virginia comments, has no plans to bolt the administration at this point, a White House official said Thursday.

Rep. Pete King (R-L.I.) nevertheless called for a White House shakeup: The firing of Trump’s chief strategist, Stephen Bannon.

“I think it’s important for the President to fire Steve Bannon,” King told WABC-TV, accusing the White House insider of race-baiting comments.

“He is undercutting the President,” said King. “To me, his time in the White House should be over.”

In some places, citizens took matters into their own hands. A Jefferson Davis memorial in Arizona was tarred and feathered.
