Polanski vic’s request nixed
A LOS ANGELES judge has denied the request of Roman Polanski’s sex assault victim to end the fugitive director's case without the threat of more jail time.
In a ruling on Polanski’s 84th birthday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon said Polanski must return to California in person if he expects to resolve charges her sexually assaulted 13-year-old Samantha Geimer in 1977.
The Oscar winner pleaded guilty in the case under a deal that had him spend six weeks in jail for a pre-sentencing psychological evaluation.
He fled to France on the eve of his sentencing in 1978 because he believed the judge planned to renege on his agreement and give him significantly more jail time.
