Call for all pols to nix Loeb cash
ALBANY — Syracuse Mayor Stephanie Miner, who says she is considering a run for governor, called on all elected officials to return donations from billionaire Dan Loeb, who recently made headlines with racially charged comments.
Loeb, in a since-deleted Facebook post, accused state Senate Democratic Leader Andrea StewartCousins, who is black, of having done “more damage to people of color than anyone who has ever donned a hood” by supporting teacher unions over charter schools.
“I call on all my elected colleagues to return his contributions and show that, in this era of turmoil, you refuse to endorse hate speech in any form,” Miner said.
She did not mention names, but the top individual donation recipient in New York from Loeb and his wife in recent years is Cuomo, who condemned Loeb’s remarks but has not said he would return his money.
A Cuomo spokesman declined comment.
