Griffin: LeBron might like Apple
IF YOU believe Clippers forward Blake Griffin, Knicks fans could have their wildest far-fetched dream come true in 2018: seeing LeBron James suit up in orange and blue.
It’s no secret James is rumored to be contemplating leaving Cleveland for a second time once the four-time MVP hits free agency in 2018. Over recent months, the Lakers have emerged as the likely landing spot.
But “I could see him going to New York before L.A.,” Griffin said on the “View From The Cheap Seats” podcast, per Complex. “I still think, when you go to the Garden, it’s a completely different feeling. The energy, there seems like there’s just a consistent buzz the entire game . . . even last year when you go play them, it’s still there.” Griffin added that he has “no idea” what James will decide. — Ari Gilberg
LAKERS PROBED ON TAMPERING
The NBA is investigating whether the Lakers tampered with AllStar forward Paul George while he was under contract with the Pacers. The Pacers asked the league to open the probe. “The Lakers have been cooperative and, at this point, no findings have been made,” NBA spokesman Mike Bass said Sunday in a statement. George is a fourtime All-Star and Los Angeles native who was traded to the Thunder earlier this offseason. The Pacers dealt him after George told them he planned to leave Indiana as a free agent next summer.
Under NBA rules, teams are not permitted to attempt to sway any player who is under contract with another team. If the Lakers are found to have tampered, the NBA could issue any combination of fines, forfeiture of draft picks or suspensions of those who deemed to be involved.
