SOLAR-POWERED SALES

- Rachel DeSantis

BONNIE TYLER’S ’80s hit “Total Eclipse of the Heart” has seen a surge in sales over the last week thanks to the solar eclipse.

Digital download sales of the 1983 pop song jumped 503% in the week ending Aug. 20, according to Billboard.

The track sold 12,000 downloads in that span, compared to 2,000 the week before. The song sold 4,000 downloads on Sunday alone, the day before the rare and long-anticipated total solar eclipse.

As of 1:30 p.m. Monday, when the moon started moving in front of the sun, “Total Eclipse of the Heart” sat at No. 1 on the U.S. iTunes top-selling songs chart.

Tyler, 66, has been enjoying her moment in the sun again.

The Welsh singer (right) performed her only No. 1 hit live during the eclipse for passengers aboard Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas as the cruise ship sailed the Caribbean.
