Officer-drag susp found & arrested

- Thomas Tracy

POLICE ARRESTED a 29-yearold man they say dragged a cop about 200 feet — leaving the officer with injuries to his hands and arms — during a traffic stop in Queens, authorities said Wednesday.

Detectives from the NYPD Regional Fugitive Task Force nabbed Donzel Ray-Whyte on Tuesday for the 2 a.m. Saturday clash.

The officer had pulled RayWhyte over for blowing a red light in a rented Nissan Altima on Guy R. Brewer and N. Conduit Blvds. in Jamaica.

When the cop asked RayWhyte for his driver’s license, the motorist allegedly said he didn’t have it and gave the cop a false name.

The officer asked Ray-Whyte to step out of the car, and he allegedly hit the gas and drove off — taking the cop with him. The cop — whose arm was caught in the seatbelt — managed to get loose and fell away from the car.

Officers found the vehicle nearby at 177th Place and 145th Drive. Ray-Whyte and his two passengers had disappeared.

Detectives identified RayWhyte as the driver after reaching out to the rental company, police sources said.
