Giants shake up offensive

- PAT LEONARD

BEN McAdoo juggled his offensive line as promised at Wednesday’s practice, most notably giving backup center Brett Jones a look as the first-string right guard in place of John Jerry. “That’s what you’re working for,” Jones said of his first-team reps. “You want to get in there as much as possible.”

Jerry still played the majority of Wednesday’s practice with the rest of the regular starting linemen, but McAdoo definitely is making good on his commitment Tuesday to examine “options” along the front.

“We’re spreading the opportunities around,” McAdoo said.

The coach also gave second team right guard D.J. Fluker some work as that unit’s right tackle, demoting rookie sixth-round pick Adam Bisnowaty to the third-string left guard spot. Fluker has played well lately while Bisnowaty has had a difficult camp. Jon Halapio saw work as that group’s center with Jones also playing guard on the second-string.

Top center Weston Richburg, meanwhile, said he believed the offensive line’s “physicality was not lacking” Monday night in Cleveland, when the Giants’ first-string offense ran the ball eight times for 13 yards (1.6 per).
