Flushing away taxpayer cash

- Denis Slattery

PRESIDENT Trump is throwing taxpayer money down the toilet.

The Secret Service was forced to pay $7,100 for “luxury portable restrooms” at Trump’s resort in Bedminster, N.J., during his recent “working vacation,” according to a report Thursday.

The restroom expenditures come in addition to $13,500 spent on golf cart rentals during Trump’s stay, USA Today reports.

The President has spent nearly every weekend since his inauguration at properties he owns, placing a hefty financial strain on the agency tasked with keeping him and his family safe.

Secret Service Director Randolph (Tex) Alles told USA Today earlier this week that more than 1,000 agents have already hit the federally mandated caps for salary and overtime for the entire year.

“The President has a large family, and our responsibility is required in law,” Alles said. “I can’t change that. I have no flexibility.”

Earlier this month, a rent dispute at Trump Tower led to the agency getting the boot from space it had been using at the President’s gilded Midtown home.
