Beckham, Brandon out? Uh, no sit, Mac

-

Odell Beckham (sprained left ankle) and Brandon Marshall (left shoulder) aren’t expected to play Saturday night against the Jets, but Ben McAdoo continued his injury update charade on Thursday anyway.

“We have to see how they respond to treatment,” McAdoo said. “A lot of things can happen overnight.”

Marshall has stood on the sideline of practice idle the last two days. Beckham hasn’t been on the field at all.

Beckham’s injury reportedly could sideline him for the Giants’ Week 1 opener in Dallas, but he’s taking steps to get back on the field.

Gil Brandt of NFL Network reported Beckham on Friday will get the first in a series of laser therapy cell treatments called Phoenix Thera-Lase, similar to what Jared Allen received before Super Bowl 50.

Beckham has been quiet the past few days but appeared to tweet a prayer on Thursday afternoon.

“I trust ur process, I kno U don’t make mistakes,” Beckham wrote. Eli Apple and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie are formidable, and top backup corner Michael Hunter and slot man Donte Deayon have had strong camps.

But Hunter is out with a concussion, and now Blake is gone, which leaves Steve Spagnuolo’s secondary paper thin behind its starters.

The Giants on Thursday filled the vacancy on their roster by signing another defensive back, Tim Scott, a recent Washington release who was not on an NFL roster last year. But they’ll need to address this more meaningfully before the start of the season.
