Geno Smith dropped a few jaws on Thursday by saying his favorite Jets memory is “just being in the locker room with the guys.”
Smith had his jaw broken in 2015 when then-Jets linebacker IK Enemkpali sucker-punched him in the locker room. Initial reports said Smith was punched over an unpaid debt, but Smith later said that wasn’t true.
Smith, though, can’t be concerned now with anything going on with his former team. He is approaching the most important game of his preseason and in a sense the most important of his career, given the stakes if he fails to perform and loses this backup quarterback competition to Josh Johnson. It’s unknown if Smith would be able to find another employer if the Giants let him go.
