Starting right guard John Jerry came out of the game after getting blown up by the Jets’ Sheldon Richardson for a hit on Eli Manning, which forced a wobbly red-zone interception by the Jets’ Juston Burris on the Giants’ first drive. Backup Brett Jones replaced Jerry and helped Paul Perkins and the running game gain steam. The Giants ran the ball 13 times for 54 yards (4.2 per carry) in the first half behind most of the starting line. Left tackle Ereck Flowers had a shaky showing, though: He surrendered a Leonard Williams pressure, committed a false start, and gave up a Richardson sack on Josh Johnson off a stunt. McAdoo also eventually replaced Flowers with undrafted rookie left tackle Chad Wheeler to see more from an important backup.
