WAITING ON ROMO
Tony Romo’s CBS debut was postponed Friday night. He was supposed to work the Kansas City-Seattle exhibition game but bailed after his wife gave birth to their third child, a boy — Jones McCoy Romo — on Wednesday. So, Romo will go from his behind-the-scenes preparation straight to his regular season opener (Tennessee-Oakland), which is the deep end of the pool for a novice voice. CBS has kept a tight lid on how Romo has performed in practice telecasts. Yet this did not stop some industry sources from questioning why he chose to miss Friday’s game. One source called the birth of the baby three days before the game an “understandable” reason to miss the tilt while another said it “sounds a little fishy to me.”
