Tolls a no-go, say Qns. pols

- Erin Durkin

WITH A new push to impose congestion pricing growing in Albany, Queens pols on Sunday vowed to fight any tolls on free bridges into Manhattan.

Gov. Cuomo has said he wants congestion pricing — which would impose a fee to drive into the most congested parts of Manhattan — to raise cash for the problem-plagued MTA, although he hasn’t revealed any details of what his proposal would look like.

“We will not accept tolls on the free East River bridges,” Assemblyman David Weprin (D-Queens) said Sunday near the entrance to the Queensboro Bridge.

Supporters say congestion pricing would decrease traffic in the most gridlock-plagued parts of Manhattan, encouraging people to get out of their cars while raising money to improve mass transit.
