Nazi-lobby probe in Qns.
THE CITY Human Rights Commission is launching an investigation into a Queens condo building that decked out its lobby with a bizarre display featuring Nazi and Confederate symbols.
Investigators will probe whether there’s illegal harassment going on at the Sunnyside building run by manager Neal Milano, according to the commission and Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer (DQueens).
“There are people in the building who believe a hostile environment has been created,” Van Bramer said. “If there are people in the building who fear retaliation and in some cases fear violence from him, clearly their rights are being violated.”
The building’s off-the-wall decorations include photos of dictators Adolf Hitler, Benito Mussolini and Joseph Stalin. There’s a World War II poster featuring a swastika and several pictures of guns alongside posters of Abraham Lincoln, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Mount Rushmore.
It’s illegal under city human rights law to harass or create a hostile environment for tenants on the basis of race, religion or immigration status.
Milano did not return a call for comment. His lawyer has said the displays are intended as a history lesson, not propaganda.
