Honor for Queens teen at U.S. Open

- Ben Chapman

THIS QUEENS teen loves the court, and on Tuesday he’s getting a grand slam.

Amateur tennis player Justin Vasquez will get a thrill of a lifetime when legendary pro Billie Jean King serves him a Junior Tennis Award at the U.S. Open.

Vasquez, 18, will be recognized for his athletic talent and enthusiasm for the sport at the City Parks Foundation’s annual City Parks Tennis Benefit. The Rego Park resident said he started playing at Juniper Valley Park with free lessons from City Parks.

“Tennis has been impactful on my life,” Vasquez (photo inset) said. “This award shows how much it can change somebody.”

Each year, King 73, recognizes one special player with her award.
