MCCOWN STANDS WITH HOUSTON
McCown was born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas — about a three-hour drive north of Houston — and currently resides in Dallas. His thoughts were with those affected by Hurricane Harvey, which has caused unprecedented flooding in southeastern Texas.
“Looking at what’s going on in my home state back home in Texas, just looking through and seeing…people displaced and just what people are going through. You have moments like that and it just makes you thankful, let alone to get an opportunity at this age to go be an opening day starter,” McCown said. “Just humbled, thankful for this opportunity and look forward to making the most of it.”
McCown said no one in his immediate family has a been affected by the flooding.
“I do have some extended family down in the area, and so obviously just prayers and thoughts are with them and anything you can do to help,” McCown said. “I get to come practice today. That’s the hardest thing I’m going to do today, is go out and go to a football practice. So there’s people dealing with real-life issues, and so when you see that, I think the best thing you can when you can't be a part of it is go out and practice your tail off and enjoy the moments that you have and be thankful for that.”
