W’chester son leads mourning after family wiped out

A TEARY William Dym, in a strange and touching eulogy, paid tribute to the double murderer who left him an orphan: His dad Steven.

Dym, speaking Wednesday at the funeral of his father, mother and kid sister, offered fond memories of all three just five days after Steven shotgunned the two women — and then killed himself.

“He was my hero, no matter what the circumstances,” son William told more than 200 mourners who packed St. Patrick’s Church in Bedford for the family funeral.

“His love was everlasting,” the son said of his dad. “He was truly the happiest human being that I have ever encountered, and his happiness will continue to be a part of my soul forever.”

Steven Dym, a real estate magnate, shot and killed his wife Loretta, 50, and his 18-year-old daughter Caroline last Friday inside the family’s $1.7 million Westchester County home.

The 56-year-old then turned the weapon on himself.

All three bodies were found on the second floor of the sprawling suburban residence. Legal issues with Steven Dym’s property management business were suggested as the impetus for the tragedy.

All three were remembered in a church packed full of mourners, with barely a mention of the murder-suicide that brought them together.

William Dym, 20, had returned to school at the University of Southern California prior to his dad’s shooting spree. He made no reference to the killings.

William was accompanied by his mom’s parents, Marilyn and Bill Rienecker, as other relatives followed them inside.

The first four pews were filled by friends and classmates of Caroline, most wearing a red ribbon in their braided hair to honor the slain teen.

The mourners cheered the USC student when he closed his eulogy with one final mention of his homicidal father.

“Mom, Dad, Caroline — I miss you so much and I will always miss you,” he said. “I know you’re up there guiding me through life and keeping me safe, and I love you.”
