‘Dream’ may still be alive

THE WHITE House says it is deferring its decision on Dreamers.

Press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders denied reports that it will soon end the Obama administration immigration program, saying that no decision has been made.

Multiple outlets reported Thursday that President Trump was planning on announcing his nixing the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals measures — which shield from deportation those brought to the U.S. illegally as children — as soon as Friday.

He will allow those under the program, often called Dreamers after the name of a similar legislative bill, to stay in the U.S. until their current work permits run out, McClatchy reported.

Trump said during his campaign that he would rescind the program, which Barack Obama implemented in 2012 and allows undocumented people to the U.S. to live, work and go to school if they came before they turned 16, were 30 or under in 2012 and have no serious criminal history.

“We don’t know when the final review will be completed,” Sanders said.
