A HIT-AND-RUN driver abandoned the damaged car and ran off after slamming into a bicyclist in Brooklyn early Thursday, authorities said.

The heartless driver of a blue four-door Subaru struck the 27-year-old cyclist on Washington Ave. near Willoughby Ave. (photo below) in Fort Greene just after midnight, cops said.

The victim tumbled over the car’s hood and crashed into the windshield. But the driver kept on going. Medics rushed the cyclist to New York Methodist Hospital in critical condition. He later stabilized at the hospital, an NYPD source said.

The Subaru — its windshield smashed from the impact — was found abandoned two blocks away on DeKalb Ave.

No arrests had been made. A HOMELESS woman was found in Midtown early Thursday cradling a dead newborn she had given birth to, cops said.

An alarmed passerby called 911 after spotting the 22-year-old woman holding the dead baby on W. 46th St. near 11th Ave. about 8 a.m.

She told police she had given birth about 12 hours before, sources said.

EMS responded and determined the baby had died.

The mom was taken to Mount Sinai West for evaluation.

The city medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of the baby’s death.

The woman, whose name was not released, faced no charges. ALBANY — Motorists can expect a “highly visible” police presence on New York roads on Labor Day weekend as part of an effort to crack down on drunken driving, Gov. Cuomo announced Thursday.

State Police, working with local cops, will take part in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign and will have added patrols and DWI checkpoints, Cuomo said.

“Troopers and local law enforcement will be highly visible this weekend, and if you drink and drive, you will get pulled over,” Cuomo said.
