Woman critical after
Wash. Hts. hit & run
A HEARTLESS driver critically injured a Washington Heights woman Friday night and drove off, cops and witnesses said.
The 42-year-old woman was walking her dog across St. Nicholas Ave. near W. 157th St. when a black sedan slammed into her, cops said.
“The dark Chrysler turned and hit her,” said Syed Ali, the superintendent of a nearby building. “It went right over her. He kept going. He didn’t stop.”
The driver blew through a red light and ran over the woman as she walked in the crosswalk leaving her 3-year-old dog Caramel uninjured by her side, according to cops and video obtained by the Daily News.
Medics rushed the woman to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital in critical condition, police said.
Dorothy Watson, 65, said the victim lives nearby with her elderly mother, fiance and two children.
