Woman hit by airplane propeller

AN AIRPORT worker was struck and seriously injured by a spinning airplane propeller at Newark Airport Saturday.

The accident happened 2:20 a.m. in a maintenance area of the airport across from Terminal A, according to Port Authority police spokesman Joseph Pentangelo. The 54-year-old woman — who works as a cleaner — was struck by a CommutAir plane that was not on the runway. She was hit in the head and hospitalized in critical condition.

The cause is under investigation.
