Blue deals for Steelers CB

-

Moments after the 53-man roster deadline passed on Saturday, the Steelers announced they traded CB Ross Cockrell to the Giants for a 2018 conditional draft pick.

It's an unexpected move for the Giants, but not a surprising one given the concern for depth at cornerback with Eli Apple battling an ankle sprain, Michael Hunter Jr. in concussion protocol and Valentino Blake leaving the team for personal reasons. CB Donte Deayon was waived to make room for Cockrell. Cockrell, a four-year veteran, played the last two seasons in Pittsburgh, starting in all 16 games last year. He finished the season with 62 tackles, 14 pass defenses and fumble recovery. — Healy
