SHEERAN’S PUB TALES – CONFIDENTIAL:

-

ED SHEERAN’S PALS are drinking out loud — and in private. The “Thinking Out Loud” singer (photo inset) confessed in January that he’d contracted builders to convert an old barn into a drinking hole, which is linked to his home by a tunnel that one pal calls “f---ing cool.” But we’re told that the watering hole in Suffolk, England, is not open all hours and Sheeran has made clear to his neighbors that his bar is not a public house, according to a source with ties to Sheeran. It’s also been closed for “business” while he’s been on tour. “When it was announced Ed was building a pub in his home, everyone from his old school and pub, drinking friends, thought that it would be a free-for-all,” we’re told. That source said Sheeran is a great host at bars — just so long as they’re not in his house. “Ed has been really generous when he returned home in the past, often buying rounds for the pub,” we’re told by that pal of the affable 26-year-old.

“However, while many in the local community thought that Ed would throw open his doors on his return and party it up, that is not the case,” we’re told. “He has laid down the law that it will be close friends only, and only open when he is back in town.”

Sheeran is currently on the U.S. leg of his ambitions “Divide” tour, which includes a three-day stint at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center at the end of the month.

He first told Apple Music about his private pub during an interview in January.

“I’ve built a pub,” he said. “I had a bar before, a bar where you could pour beers, but now this has, like, a selection of beers, which is cool.”

That was around the time that Sheeran confessed he’s lost 50 pounds in 2016, simply by giving up beer. He also said that he’s since gone back to sipping suds.
