MALLIO CUBA-P.R. FLAG FLUB

- Erin Durkin

MAYORAL HOPEFUL Nicole Malliotakis, who often touts her Cuban roots, mixed up the Cuban and Puerto Rican flags in a tweet Monday from the New York Caribbean Carnival Parade.

“My friends present me with a Cuban flag at the New York West Indian #Caribbean Carnival Parade!” the Staten Island assemblywoman tweeted — with a photo (inset right) in which she’s holding a giant Puerto Rican flag.

The islands have similar banners — a red triangle with a white star on Cuba’s, and a blue triangle with a white star on Puerto Rico’s.

Malliotakis, whose mother immigrated from Cuba, is the presumptive GOP nominee against Mayor de Blasio.

City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito, who grew up in Puerto Rico, mocked the mixup on Twitter, posting a screenshot of the candidate’s original photo with a side-eye emoji.

A Malliotakis spokesman blamed the error on an aide who was tweeting from the candidate’s account. The original photo was deleted.
