Denny Farrell packs it in today, ending 42 years as an uptown assemblyman. Because of his cynical timing, he hands a pal the primary-free Democratic ballot line and certain victory. Farrell claims he timed today's departure to coincide with the anniversary of his first job. Nonsense; having been party boss for decades, he knew exactly what he was doing: kicking the voters on the way out.
