Jailer took bribe to sneak in iPhone
A FORMER federal prison officer admitted Wednesday to smuggling in an iPhone for a prisoner who said he was yearning to connect with his family on the outside.
Jonathan Galicia, an exofficer at the Metropolitan Detention Center, pleaded guilty in Brooklyn Federal Court to soliciting and accepting a bribe.
Galicia, 34, says he doesn’t remember how much he was paid for the June 2016 smuggling job, but the court ordered him to fork over $3,700.
He said the inmate offered him money several times before he agreed to bring in the phone.
