Pain in As’!

-

Asdrubal Cabrera was not in the lineup Friday night, after leaving Thursday night’s game with what the Mets are now calling left glute discomfort. He had an MRI Friday morning and is listed day-to-day. “I feel much better today, I had treatment,” Cabrera said after the Mets’ 5-1 win over the Reds at Citi Field. “I will take another day and I should be OK.”

Cabrera said he simply got treatment on his glute Friday, so Saturday he will try doing baseball activities and hopefully be good to go on Saturday.

The Mets were concerned initially that it could be a back issue.

“Well, it is the upper glute area, so that we were concerned about his back being a possible issue. We’ve had him examined. The back is not an issue, so it’s pretty much just a spasm,” Terry Collins said. “I think it would be a day or so. They’ll work on him this afternoon. He probably is not available tonight, but he may be available tomorrow.”

The Mets called up infielder Phillip Evans as insurance Friday.
