OBJ questionable for Dallas opener

-

The Giants officially listed Odell Beckham Jr. as questionable in their injury report for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Beckham did, however, tell an SNY reporter that he is feeling a lot better but has a “long evening of rehab” ahead. The wide receiver has not practiced since spraining his left ankle against the Browns in a preseason game on Aug. 21.

Immediately after the game, Beckham said he felt “relieved” that it was nothing more serious, yet it appears he will be a game-time decision for Week 1.

Head coach Ben McAdoo remained mum on Friday about where Beckham is in his progress to getting back on the field, stating the same line from the past two weeks.

“He’s in there getting treatment, we’ll see how he responds,” McAdoo said. “He’s going to do some work with the training staff tonight and we’ll see how he responds tomorrow.”

Elsewhere on the injury report, Giants linebacker Keenan Robinson (concussion) was ruled out for Week 1.

FAMILIAR TERRITORY

times throughout his college career with Alabama. His record? 3-0.

“Yes (it’s an advantage) because my first time going there in college, the jumbotron can catch your attention quickly,” he said. “Going there, the atmosphere, I’m comfortable playing there for the most part.”

The 23-year-old has received high praise from teammates and coaches this preseason but is currently behind Jay Bromley on the depth chart for starting defensive tackle.

Still, Tomlinson should get plenty of snaps as Bromley is coming off a knee injury from the final preseason game and Tomlinson will likely be rotated into the lineup.

The rookie will be put to the test right away, going up against a Cowboys offensive line that was considered the best in the league last season.

“It’s going to be a test just like any other game,” he told the Daily News. “Going to have to dominate the best to my ability. One of the main things you got to do is just dominate the trenches and get your hands dirty and just play football.”

As for being thrust into the Giants-Cowboys rivalry for his first game, that’s nothing new for a guy who spent the last four years at Alabama.

“I’m accustomed to playing big games,” he said. “I think that means a lot because of a big rivalry and I feel like I’m ready for it.”
