Former Giants kicker and current free agent Josh Brown is being suspended an additional six games one year after his initial domestic violence ban, ESPN reported Friday morning.

Last season Brown served a one-game suspension, but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell noted earlier this year that the league’s investigation remained active.

“We reopened the investigation based on new info, concluded there was a violation of our personal conduct policy and imposed 6 game suspension which he accepted without appeal,” the NFL, which has yet to release its findings, confirmed to ESPN in a text.

The league also released a statement on Friday explaining that they discovered new information about Brown that led to Friday’s six-game suspension, despite penalizing him one game last season.

“In October 2016, the King County (WA) Sheriff’s Office announced publicly that it had closed its investigation in connection with the 2015 incident,” the statement said. “As part of its report, however, the Sheriff’s office released a volume of documents from its investigation. These documents, which previously had been withheld from the public and the NFL, contained information regarding a series of other incidents separate from the May 2015 incident.

“The league then placed Brown on the Commissioner Exempt list and initiated an investigation into those incidents. Following a comprehensive investigation, which included a review of the documents and interviews with Brown and several other people, the league concluded there was a violation of the Personal Conduct Policy that warranted a six-game suspension.”

The news comes about a month after Ezekiel Elliott was suspended six games for violating the league’s personal conduct policy following an investigation into domestic violence allegations against the Cowboys running back. He appealed, and the suspension was blocked by a federal judge on Friday.

Brown — who’d been arrested in 2015 on suspicion of domestic assault — said during a “Good Morning America” interview that he never hit then-wife Molly Brown, while not disputing he’d been violent.

“I mean, I had put my hands on her,” Brown said when asked about his previous admission of physical, verbal and emotional abuse of Molly. “I kicked the chair. I held her down. The holding down was the worst moment in our marriage.”

“I never hit her. I never slapped her. I never choked her,” Brown added. “I never did those types of things.” Brown did dispute, however, his now exwife’s accusations that he’d been violent with her more than 20 times.
