Boy, 5, killed in 3-story fall at Qns. home
A 5-YEAR-OLD boy fell to his death Sunday afternoon from the third-floor bathroom window of a Queens home that was undergoing renovations, police said.
The young boy was visiting the three-story home, on 37th Ave. and 99th St. in Corona just after 2:40 p.m., with his parents, his older sister and his grandparents when he fell, a witness said.
His grandparents, who were watching the boy, were on the second floor when the child entered the bathroom on the third floor, according to cops. The child was taken to Booth Memorial Hospital, but he could not be saved, police said.
Neighbor Jorge Urbalgao said he saw a man, possibly the boy’s father or grandfather, screaming his name as he ran to where the youngster had fallen.
“He was bleeding from his head. He wasn’t moving at all, his arms were hanging down,” Urbalgao said. Authorities did not release the boy’s name.
Luis Angulo, the building’s manager, said the boy’s dad owns the property, and the family showed up Sunday to help clean up as renovations were taking place.
The boy’s father left to take his daughter to a recital, but he and his grandparents stayed behind, Angulo said.
