The court does no harm

The state’s highest court Thursday did the only thing it could do on a question as morally consequent­ial and legally fraught as giving physicians, by judicial fiat, the power to help patients die. Judges unanimousl­y rejected arguments that doctor-assisted suicide is a state constituti­onal right. Let those who want to rewrite the law to enable healers to ease suffering by facilitati­ng death make their case to the public.
