JJ Watt continues to do Texas proud. The Texans star defensive end, whose fundraising campaign has raised millions to fund relief efforts for the Houston area in the wake of Hurricane Harvey, made an emotional entrance as he was introduced for his team’s season opener Sunday.
As his name was announced — the last on the team — Watt emerged from the tunnel waving the Texas flag and pumping up the crowd.
Watt has emerged as a face for the Houston relief efforts with his charity’s fundraising campaign, which has exceeded the $30 million threshold.
The Texans eventually lost to the Jaguars, 29-7, but celebrations of Jacksonville’s win were tempered by concerns for their state as Hurricane Irma made landfall on Sunday, with the mammoth storm threatening to affect all of Florida.
