Trump’s stooge Stone to testify
REPUBLICAN political operative Roger Stone says he is looking forward to telling his tale.
The informal campaign adviser to President Trump said Thursday he will testify before the House Intelligence Committee later this month. The hearing is scheduled to be a closed-door session, but Stone said he will push for “an immediate release of the transcripts.”
The 65-year-old strategist and lobbyist has denied any wrongdoing or improper contact with Russia during the presidential election.
He admitted last year he communicated with Guccifer 2.0, the hacker who claimed to have gained access to Democratic National Committee email servers, and bragged about having a “back channel” to WikiLeaks.
The U.S. intelligence community believes Guccifer 2.0 is a front for Russian operatives.
Stone appears before the committee on Sept. 26.
“I very much look forward to testifying and I am anxious to correct a number of the misstatements by committee members regarding my activities in 2016,” Stone said Thursday.
