Honeymoon flap for $ big

- Christopher Brennan

TREASURY Secretary Steve Mnuchin wanted to use a government plane for his honeymoon due to “national security,” he said Thursday.

Mnuchin faced heated criticism following reports that he wanted a U.S. aircraft to ferry him and his new bride, part-time actress Louise Linton, to Scotland, France and Italy last month following their nuptials.

The plane, which costs $25,000 an hour, would have doubled as a portable office and “had nothing to do with convenience; this was purely about national security,” Mnuchin told Politico Live. “I didn’t use a government plane on my honeymoon, and if I had I would have paid for it myself. #FakeNews,” he also tweeted.
