Staten Is. Ferry relief

- Dan Rivoli

THE CITY opened a new entrance to Manhattan’s Staten Island Ferry terminal on the lower level Monday, in the hope it will improve the cattle-like conditions commuters suffer.

The lower level had been closed since 2004, due to federal security rules instituted after 9/11. The Coast Guard signed off on the changes last month.

Riders will have extra boarding space weekdays from 6:40 a.m. to 9 a.m. at Staten Island’s St. George Terminal, and from noon to 8 p.m. at the Whitehall Terminal in Manhattan, all week.
