Pharma Bro jurors: Went EASY on jerk

-

MARTIN SHKRELI’S marathon securities fraud trial could have been even worse for him, according to a report quoting two jurors who said they were sickened with parts of their verdict.

After a monthlong trial and a week of deliberations, jurors convicted the Pharma Bro on two counts of securities fraud and one charge of conspiracy. They acquitted him on five other charges, including the top count, wire fraud conspiracy, which carried a 20-year prison sentence.

The two unidentified jurors said their colleagues were close to voting guilty on a pair of hefty counts, the Daily Beast said Monday.

The story said the jury’s hangup was uncertainty on legal language — plus one holdout who brought the group over to acquittal on a count connected to Shkreli’s management of a hedge fund and a count connected to his pharmaceutical company. The two jurors painted a picture of a flummoxed, fatigued panel ground down by the intense case.

But another juror told the Daily News on Monday there was debate over whether Shkreli meant for investors to lose money or property. “There were 12 of us in the room. Twelve debated on that issue for quite some time,” the juror said, later adding, “I didn’t feel I was bullied.”
