New outreach to LGBT youth
THE CITY WILL launch an effort to better deliver services to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender youth, Mayor de Blasio’s wife, Chirlane McCray, announced Tuesday.
Citing “dangerous rhetoric and hateful policies coming from the White House and its allies,” McCray rolled out the NYC Unity Project.
It aims to streamline the work of 16 agencies offering programs to help LGTBQ youth — including plans for single-stall bathrooms in all public schools by January, training and certification in treating LGBTQ people for more than 500 city Health and Hospitals doctors, and expanded mental health and suicide prevention outreach.
