Eyed Spidey fence for stolen mags

- John Annese

HE MAY BE a repeat felon, but he’s no Kingpin of crime.

A parolee who stole rare Spider-Man and X-Men comics in Brooklyn got caught up in his own webbing when he tried to sell them, police said Tuesday.

Kenneth Gaynor, 40, didn’t even know what he was taking when he snagged a package from the front stoop of a comic collector’s Windsor Terrace home on Aug. 28, cops said.

He wound up with two vintage comic books from 1963 — Amazing Spider-Man #1 and X-Men #1 (photos), cops said.

Spidey is worth about $11,000, while the X-Men book was in lesser condition, and worth about a grand, cops said. The comics’ 35-year-old owner sent them out to be appraised, and the delivery company returning them left them on his stoop, instead of getting a signature, cops said.

That’s where Gaynor snatched the books, and then tried to sell them at comic stores.

He left his contact information at one shop, and that’s how police were able to set up a meeting and arrest him on Monday.
