He may pay big Price for flight
INVESTIGATIONS INTO Health Secretary Tom Price’s private-jet use might be taking off soon.
Democrats in Congress are calling for probes into Price’s pricey travel history after a report revealed he had been using expensive chartered jets for short-distance business trips.
“I would remind Secretary Price that taxpayer funds are not meant to be used as a jet-setting slush fund,” Rep. Frank Pallone Jr. of New Jersey said in a statement Wednesday.
Politico reported Price last week used private jets for five business trips. His predecessors typically flew commercial within the U.S.
The flights cost at least an estimated $60,000, and included the jaunt between Philadelphia and Washington, which would have cost less than $100 on Amtrak.
A rep for Price, an outspoken critic of wasteful government spending, said private flights are sometimes necessary because “commercial travel is not always feasible.”
