Rikers terror indicted in sex attacks
A NOTORIOUSLY violent Rikers Island inmate has been indicted for sexually assaulting two women at the city jail, the Daily News has learned.
Alexandria James, 23, was brought before a Bronx judge on Wednesday to face a 136-count indictment for sexually abusing Geraldine Perkins and Dania Torres between Oct. 10, 2016, and April 16. Both women previously shared their accounts with The News.
Perkins (photo) is charged in the fatal beating of her 6-year-old Zymere Perkins last September.
James allegedly used a “makeshift phallic device” to assault the women in separate incidents, sources said. The attacks against Perkins were captured on jail surveillance cameras, prosecutors said. James is charged with aggravated sexual abuse, sex abuse, forcible touching, stalking and related counts. She is also charged with beating an inmate who reported the sex abuse to guards, breaking the victim’s wrist, prosecutors said. “Sexual abuse is unacceptable and we take these claims seriously,” said Acting Correction Commissioner Cynthia Brann, who added that James will be separated from other inmates.
