Fake cop caught with a gun stash

A MAN CLAD in body armor sparked a panic in a Flatiron District sushi joint when he brandished a gun and claimed to be a “special agent” as he was arrested, police said Thursday.

Cops found an AR-15 assault rifle and eight loaded high-capacity magazines stashed in Kai Ting Yin’s blue Mini Cooper after they arrested him inside the Snowfox Cafe on E. 23rd St. near Madison Ave. about noon Wednesday.

Yin, 36, of Elmont, L.I., allegedly pulled a .45-caliber handgun inside the restaurant — but didn’t appear interested in shooting it. He was wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying handcuffs. He knew one of the employees and had come in the day before, a restaurant manager said.

A passing cop saw what was going on and arrested Yin, who falsely claimed to be in law enforcement.

“I’m on the same team,” Yin told police. “I’m on the job.”

He was charged with weapons possession, criminal impersonation and unlawfully wearing a bulletproof vest.
