Trump’s rant

-

Everyone has their opinion on certain things. All I wanted to do was do it together, and that’s what we did. We did it solidarity and that’s what I believe in.”

Casillas also was candid about why players might not have spoken up before Sunday, and why they demonstrated together instead of leaving someone isolated.

“However people want to say it, Colin Kaepernick doesn’t have a job because of what he did as a protest; it wasn’t because of what he did on the field,” he said. “People think that, ‘Man, he doesn’t have a job because of that,’ so they might be a little more reserved in what they do. So today after what was said by the President, I think everything we did today was going to be together, as a unit.”

McAdoo, a white 40-year-old head coach from outside Pittsburgh, said the team discussed pregame that they would stand “united.” He said he stressed empathy and Trump’s message showed anything but.

“I’m not sure how much the President can empathize with our players and the way they grew up,” the coach said. “They grew up a lot different than a lot of people. Some tougher than others, and I think empathy is the key message here, to choose understanding over judgment. t all added up to an emotional afternoon, for young men caught between their principles and their profession, their job and their duty, and the result was an unforgettable moment when many Giants players said ‘no more.’

“Sorry I’m a little aggressive today,” Marshall said. “You know, we lose and then the whole Trump situation, so I apologize. It’s an emotional day for all of us, man. So still love and respect, you know what I mean?”

Not really, not unless you walked in their cleats on Sunday.
