It’s unexplored Amazon for Bill
MAYOR DE BLASIO is courting Amazon to put its new headquarters in New York — but says he’s never once ordered from the tech giant himself.
De Blasio, brandishing his oldfashioned flip phone, told reporters Monday that online shopping is just not his style.
“What do you think? Do you not know me by now?” Hizzoner joked when a reporter asked if he’d ever bought anything from the website. “I have never ordered from Amazon. That’s no disrespect to Amazon. God bless Amazon. I believe in bricks and mortar.”
De Blasio allowed that his wife, Chirlane McCray, does order from the site.
“I am not speaking for the First Lady, who uses all methodologies,” he said.
But his lack of enthusiasm for online shopping has not dampened de Blasio’s drive to convince the massive company, which has announced a search for a second headquarters site, to come to the city.
“We have a lot to offer them. We’re going to work very hard at it,” he said.
