‘Pink’ punk says: I nailed Columbus!
THIS MANICURE was a stonecold crime.
A notorious homeless panhandler used red nail polish to paint the fingernails of the Christopher Columbus statue at Columbus Circle in an apparent political statement, police said Monday.
Daniel Kimery, 38, was caught in the act Saturday night — and told cops the polish, found in his pants pocket, represented the blood on Columbus’ hands, police sources said.
Kimery was charged with criminal mischief, making graffiti and possession of graffiti instruments. He pleaded guilty to criminal mischief and was sentenced to community service.
Originally from Arkansas, Kimery has 12 previous arrests, including one for assault in Times Square and one for busting a rest room door at Trinity Church, sources said.
Mayor de Blasio has ordered a review of “all possible symbols of hate” in the city, following violent protests against the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville, Va.
