OBJ leaks protest excuse
ODELL Beckham appears to have clarified what his urinating dog celebration was all about.
A.J. Willingham, a CNN editor, tweeted that maybe Beckham’s “I’m a dog” celebration was a reference to President Trump’s “son of a bitch” comment from Friday when addressing NFL players taking knees during the national anthem.
Beckham replied: “If u seen that, I have to tip my hat to u for thinkin outside the box. #URRIGHTONPOINT impressed.”
Beckham’s celebration drew a 15-yard penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct. After the game when asked to explain himself, he said, “I’m a dog, so I acted like a dog.”
He did not expand on what exactly that meant at the time. In a conference call on Monday, Ben McAdoo only said he would rather be talking about the plays he made instead of the penalty that was drawn. Beckham said the official told him he was penalized because he “peed on somebody.”
“I was trying to find the imaginary ghost that I peed on but I didn’t see him,” Beckham said.
In Beckham’s second TD of the game he instead gave a raised power fist as a display of solidarity among the many protests that took place across the NFL on Sunday. That celebration did not draw a penalty. — Healy
