Frank Valencia, suspected MAY 25 of wounding Yonkers Police Officer Kayla Maher on Monday, threatens his father, Francisco, with a gun. The dad kicks his teenage son out of the house and reports the threat to police.
Francisco Valencia learns his MAY son 31is staying at a hotel in the Bronx. Believing him armed and dangerous, he calls 911 and the 48th Precinct. Cops find Frank at a White Castle with guns and nearly 500 bullets, and arrest him.
Bronx Supreme Court JusticeJULY 10 George Villegas grants Frank Valencia youthful offender status, over the objections of a Bronx prosecutor. The teen pleads guilty to a gun charge and is released on his own recognizance. New Rochelle police then charge him with menacing for threatening his father.
Villegas sentences Valencia SEPT. to 20 five years’ probation.
Valencia misses a court SEPT. 25 appearance in New Rochelle on the menacing charge. A bench warrant is issued for his arrest. A few hours later, Valencia allegedly shoots Maher through the jaw during a gun battle.
