N. Korea asks pros to probe mind of Don
NORTH KOREA wants help deciphering President Trump.
Officials in Kim Jong Un’s totalitarian regime have been trying to arrange talks with GOP analysts in Washington to make sense of Trump’s menacing but muddled messages about North Korea’s nuclear threats, according to a report on Tuesday.
The report came as the Trump administration slapped even more sanctions on North Korea, while assuring no military action is imminent.
North Korea has been baffled by Trump’s erratic responses to Kim’s continuing missile threats, The Washington Post reported, and confused by contradicting statements from Secretary of State Tillerson and Defense Secretary James Mattis.
So North Korean diplomats have been trying to get D.C.-based Asia experts to decode the President’s posturing. Those include Bruce Klingner, a former CIA analyst at the right-wing Heritage Foundation, and Douglas Paal, who served as an Asian security expert under Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, according to The Post.
Altogether, North Korea has sent about seven requests to experts and organizations for clarity on Trump’s thoughts.
North Korean officials hoped to set up a sitdown between some of the experts and members of Kim’s government. But it appears no arrangement has been made so far.
Trump and Kim have been threatening to destroy each other’s countries for the past several months.
