WE’D SEE MANY UNHAPPY RETURNS

President Trump’s promise to ax state and local deductions would hike taxes for nearly 1.3 million taxpayers in New York City and adversely affect millions across the state:

A median tax increase of $2,200 for city households.

A family making $75,000 would end up paying almost $1,800 more in taxes.

60% of those facing higher tax bills in the city would be low- or middleinco­me families.

New York City residents collective­ly would see federal tax bills jump by $7 billion.

3 million New Yorkers — roughly one-third of taxpayers — would see their federal income taxes increase.

One in five taxpayers with incomes between $25,000 and $50,000 would see their taxes increase.

Nearly half of all middle-class New Yorkers who make between $50,000 and $75,000 would face higher taxes .

Almost 75% of New Yorkers making between $75,000 and $100,000 would face higher tax bills.

Real estate taxes comprise the largest amount of itemized deductions reported in New York, with nearly all itemizers claiming this deduction.
