JET YER HANDS OFF ME!
‘Allergic’ gal removed
Southwest has apologized for how the situation was handled.
“We are disheartened by the way this situation unfolded and the customer’s removal by local law enforcement officers. We publicly offer our apologies to this customer for her experience and we will be contacting her directly to address her concerns,” the airline said in a statement.
The airline said the woman said she had a life-threatening pet allergy, but she did not have the paperwork necessary for her to remain on the flight.
Southwest also said there was one emotional support animal and one pet aboard the plane.
“Our policy states that a customer (without medical certificate) may be denied boarding if they report a life-threatening allergic reaction and cannot travel safely with an animal onboard.”
The airline said its crew made repeated attempts to explain the situation to the passenger before law enforcement became involved.
“She refused to deplane,” the airline said in a statement.
The flight from Baltimore to Los Angeles later took off.
