Charter firms had busload of violations

- Dan Rivoli

THE ROADS of New York are littered with buses from charter companies with dangerous driving records.

Nearly half of private charter bus companies in New York had violations for unsafe driving, according to a study from a group of state senators in the Independent Democratic Caucus released Thursday.

The report — Violations by the Busload — found that 121 out of 249 private bus companies wracked up violations, citing federal data.

The breakaway Dems highlighted the top 10 worst offenders.

Dahlia Group, the company that hired Raymond Mong, who smashed into an MTA bus last week in Queens, killing himself and two other people, made the list at No. 7.

Mong had been fired from his job as an MTA bus driver in 2015 over a drunken driving conviction in Connecticut.

Sagbus in Flushing, Queens, was at the top of the list, because it has one driver for one bus, and 18 violations, four of which were for unsafe driving. Dahlia’s five buses and six drivers had seven unsafe driving violations, out of 11 citations.
